Hello,my name is Julie or KD8EBA, Nice to meet you, Currently all I have in the line of radios is a handheld (Yeasu VX-R7)on the West side of MI. I am trying to determine how to convert an old mobile unit into a base, but this will take some time and money (something that is of short supply lately). I started my interest in HAM because of my volunteer work with emergency management locally and took the HAM in a day in Kent county and obtained my General through Ottawa county. I find it interesting to hear what you are doing with RACES in your area and hope some day to become more involved with them in my area. Any pointers on converting the mobile unit would be appreachiated as I have little knowledge of how to do this and currently am not a member of any clubs in the area. Keep up the great job of keeping the airways going.
